From Jakarta to the Snowpark, Chasing an Olympic Dream

You might be wondering what a girl from sunny Indonesia is doing carving up snowy mountains on a snowboard. Well, itโs a crazy story, and Iโm so stoked to share it with you all!
Iโm Betari ZAZI Landman, a teen asian snowboard girl with a massive dream: to represent my beautiful Indonesia at the Winter Olympics. Itโs a long shot for a girl from a tropical country, I know, but Iโm all in!
My journey into the world of snow started when I was just four with skiing in Andorra. When I was seven, I saw these super cool riders hitting jumps and spinning through the air, and something just clicked. I turned to my parents and said, “I want to do that!” And just like that, a fire was lit.
It hasn’t been easy trading beaches for blizzards, but my amazing parents have been my biggest cheerleaders from day one. Theyโve supported my crazy dream, and now, with the incredible backing of the Indonesian Olympic Committee and some awesome sponsors, Iโm training across the globe to make it a reality.
I get to shred in some of the most epic places, but my home base for training is the legendary Laax snowpark in Switzerland. Itโs a dream come true to ride there, and the best part is, I get to learn from the best. Iโm incredibly fortunate to be coached by one of the worldโs top riders, the 2014 Olympic champion himself, Iouri Podladtchikov! Itโs insane to think that Iโm being guided by a legend of the sport. His belief in me fuels my fire even more.
Iโm decked out with the best gear, by some very cool companies which are supporting me, to help me push my limits in the halfpipe, my favorite discipline. Every day is a new adventure, a new challenge, and a step closer to my Olympic goal.
So, this is me โ a girl from Indonesia, head over heels in love with snowboarding. Iโm here to prove that with enough passion and a whole lot of “nekat”, you can chase any dream, no matter how impossible it seems.
