Hey there, Zazi here, back from spending the whole winter shredding in Laax, to competing at an international dance festival in Geneva! You know, after spending all winter training in the halfpipe, my body was pretty much tuned for snowboarding, not pirouettes! So, when the Golden Bee Dance Competition in Geneva popped up on May 10th, I had a grand total of two weeks to switch gears. Talk about a tight schedule!
I tried my best with online video classes, dancing around my bedroom like a crazy person. Let me tell you, itโs just not the same as having a proper studio and a real floor to slide across! But as soon as I got back to Sitges, in Spain, it was grind time. Five days a week, two or three hours a day, plus squeezing in training for my ballet exam. My muscles were definitely screaming, “What just happened?!” I can tell you, it hurts mega โฆ
But, as always, the incredible Tina Rodgers from Spectrum Dance Academy Sitges worked her magic. Seriously, that woman is a wizard when it comes to getting me and the group ready. She’s been with us through thick and thin, from performing at Disney Paris (which was absolutely magical, by the way!) to competing at the Shaftesbury Theater in London. Dancing with Tina and the crew is always such a blast!
And guess what? All that hard work paid off! With my solo contemporary piece, “Freedom,” I snagged first prize! Can you believe it?! And then, with our group performance, “War Child,” we also took home first prize! Not only that, but we also walked away with the trophy for overall best performance. It was epic! So yeah, turns out you can go from snowboard bum to dance champ in just two weeks, with a little help from an amazing coach and a whole lot of bedroom dancing. Now, time for some well-deserved rest… or maybe I’ll just hit the slopes again! ๐
Sampai jumpa lagi!
